The Bereavement Services Industries Association (BSIA)
has announced the appointment of its first Chairman.
Andrew Platts, Managing Director of speciality infection
control company Anubis Healthcare Ltd, has been a BSIA member since its inception in 2007. He is
the first Chairman of the Association. Andrew is a former Chairman of the Yorkshire and Humberside region
of the Institute of Directors. He has undertaken work to support the Government's Better Government for
Older People initiative. His company provides specialist infection control training as well as UK Health
Protection Agency and NHS accredited sanitisers and hygiene products for funeral directors, embalmers, cemeteries and crematoria.
The Bereavement Services Industries Association represents
companies and individuals involved in the development, production, marketing and sale of goods and services
to the deathcare industry in the United Kingdom and Ireland.

Members of the BSIA have expertise in many areas of the
deathcare industry including cremator manufacture, IT software and applications, supply of materials and equipment, memorial
services and consultancy. Andrew Platts will serve a two-year of term of office as Chairman.

1. The appointment of Andrew Platts was made by the Management Committee of the Bereavement Services Industries
Association in accordance with the Association's Constitution, adopted at a General Meeting in Newcastle in November 2007.
The appointment runs for two years.

BSIA was established under a constitution adopted at a General Meeting of the Association
held at the Hilton Gateshead Hotel, Newcastle on 12 November 2007. BSIA acts as a trade association on
behalf of its members. Membership is open to companies and individuals engaged in the production, processing
or supply of goods and services to cemeteries, crematoria and other services providing facilities for the disposal of the
dead in the UK and Ireland.
